Sunsets got me like....
I have always had an affinity for the desert. It's cultivated it's own genre of bohemian-chic that dominate today's trends, while never losing the remnants of a more primitive time, when life was a lot more...simple. For this reason, it has forever remained a place in the world where I can go and just be.
Recently, life has been changing like rapid-fire, and while life-changes are good it's still change nonetheless. I decided I needed some calm...I needed familiar...I needed a getaway! So I packed it all up and headed out to Palm Springs, Ca.
Before now I'd really ever been to Palm Springs for the occasional wedding and some small, relatively-unknown music festival that goes by the same name;) So I wasn't completely familiar with the surrounding areas. But thanks to staggering temperatures this summer, and this past weekend reaching a comfortable 116 degrees, even the swankiest of resorts were mine for the taking, and all for a minimal price tag. (I guess when patrons are leery of heatstroke it really opens your options, lol.)
We decided on the La Quinta Resort and Club in Palm Desert, an expansive luxury resort that boasted 41 different pools (no joke) and renowned golf course, tucked away at the base of the Santa Rosa mountains. To say that it was perfection would be an understatement...

our villa for starters |
We chose to snag a villa closest to the main pools so that the munchkin (my vivacious 8 year old daughter/mermaid) could get in ample swim time. And the rooms were cozy (although I wished I had gotten more photos of them) and while we certainly didn't need the fireplace, it would've been a romantic touch had the weather been cooler.

Halfway through our stay we decided to change it up a bit...one of the coolest things about the resort is that accommodations are broken down into different casitas and villas for rent. Each casita is different and standalone, providing a ton of privacy and a variety of views. For the last part of the trip we really wanted a "starlight casita", which are all located around pools, on the top story of another casita. The vantage point of renting one of these is a large open deck, complete with a fire pit and couches, and a stunning view!!

We definitely DID get full use out of this fireplace |
Even the drive out of town and back to reality was a gorgeous sendoff...
Sufficed to say, with all this beauty, and La Quinta's impeccable guest service, I'd gladly stay here for the full price. Next time perhaps for a couple's getaway minus my little love...just so that we can check out more of the after-hours scene and mama can indulge in some much needed pampering at their 5-star spa. If you're planning a trip to Palm Springs I can't tell you enough to check this place out! You won't be sorry you did.
x,
b.
